In a joint initiative by Soka Gakkai Malaysia (SGM) and the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), the Everything You Treasure—For a World Free from Nuclear Weapons (EYT) exhibition, created by SGI (Soka Gakkai International) in collaboration with the International Campaign for the Abolition of Nuclear Weapons (ICAN), was held at the foyer of the Dar al-Hikmah Library in IIUM Gombak campus from August 6 to September 13. 

Daisaku Ikeda, president of the SGI (Soka Gakkai International), discusses climate change and the need for global solidarity in finding a solution in these excerpts from his 2020 peace proposal, “Toward Our Shared Future: Constructing an Era of Human Solidarity.”

On December 9, the Permanent Mission of Slovenia to the United Nations and the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights co-organized an event to launch the 4th phase (2020–2024) of the World Programme for Human Rights Education, dedicated to youth in the United Nations Office at Geneva. The event included welcome addresses by Francesco Pisano, director of the United Nations Library at Geneva, and Sabina Stadler, ambassador of the Permanent Mission of Slovenia to the UN, and opening remarks by Kate Gilmore, United Nations deputy high commissioner for Human Rights.

In September the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) held a global conference titled “Reducing Suffering during Armed Conflict: The Interface Between Buddhism and International Humanitarian Law (IHL)” in Dambulla, Sri Lanka in collaboration with a team of leading international Buddhist scholars and legal experts. Over 120 participants gathered and exchanged their views.

On October 17, 2019, the NGO Committee on the Status of Women, New York (NGO CSW/NY) held its monthly meeting on “UNSCR 1325—Towards the Culture of Peace.” Speakers included Ambassador of Hungary to the UN Katalin Bogyay and Mallika Iyer, program officer, Global Network of Women Peacebuilders (GNWP).
