SGI Representatives Join 2024 UN Civil Society Conference

On May 9 and 10, SGI (Soka Gakkai International) representatives joined the 2024 UN Civil Society Conference in Nairobi, Kenya. The conference was held in advance of the Summit of the Future that will take place in September 2024 at the UN Headquarters in New York. On May 9, Ivy Koek of the SGI Office for UN Affairs gave closing remarks as Co-Chair of the NGO Committee on the Status of Women, New York, at a workshop titled “The Road from the Summit of the Future to Beijing+30.” She highlighted the role of each individual in ensuring more people are engaged in promoting gender equality. On May 10, Ms. Koek also co-convened an ImPACT Coalition on “Faith-based Solutions” at which participants discussed the unique roles and contributions of faith-based actors and proposed the inclusion of this aspect in the Pact for the Future as well as common agreed values across faiths and belief systems.
