In response to a magnitude 7.3 earthquake that hit the Tohoku region of Japan on February 13, the Soka Gakkai set up a central emergency communications center at the Soka Gakkai headquarters in Tokyo and two local emergency centers in the Tohoku region. Local Soka Gakkai leaders are providing encouragement and support to affected members and their families. Ten years ago, on March 11, 2011, the Tohoku region suffered a devastating earthquake and tsunami that left many thousands of people dead. There were no fatalities from this most recent quake.
