Ikeda Center Hosts Forum on Disarmament Education

On May 10, the Ikeda Center for Peace, Learning, and Dialogue, an affiliate of the Soka Gakkai, hosted a forum titled “From a Culture of War to a Culture of Peace: A Forum on Nuclear Disarmament Education.” Dr. Ira Helfand, a member of the International Steering Group of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN), Dr. Alexander Harang, distinguished adjunct professor at Soka University of America, Dr. Meira Levinson, professor at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and Dr. Elaine Scarry, professor at Harvard University, joined a panel discussion. They explored topics such as the role of teachers in disarmament education and ways to raise awareness of nuclear abolition in discussion with students and educators.
