Soka Gakkai Representatives Join Interfaith Dialogue Conference in Paris

From September 22 to 24, a delegation including Soka Gakkai Vice President Hirotsugu Terasaki and SGI Europe Cochair Robert Harrap attended the 38th International Meeting of Religions and Cultures in Dialogue themed “Imagine Peace” in Paris, France. The conference was hosted by the Community of Sant’Egidio, a Catholic lay association, together with the Archdiocese of Paris. On September 23, during the forum “Remembering Hiroshima and Nagasaki: Imagining a World without Nuclear Weapons,” Anna Ikeda of the SGI Office for UN Affairs delivered a speech highlighting the voices of hibakusha. She also introduced the message of President Daisaku Ikeda’s 2022 Peace Proposal and called for No First Use of nuclear weapons. During the conference, Mr. Terasaki met with representatives of different faiths, including Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby.
