SGI Representative Speaks at Interfaith Event During 2023 SDG Summit

On September 18, a high-level event titled “Inspiring Faith, Hope and Transformative Action to Accelerate Progress Towards the SDGs” was held at the Bahá’í International Community office during the 2023 SDG Summit held at the UN Headquarters in New York. Representing the Asia Pacific Faith-Based Coalition for Sustainable Development (APFC), Hiro Sakurai, director of the SGI (Soka Gakkai International) Office for UN Affairs, was a panelist in a session titled “Faith-Based Transformative Actions for SDGs 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) and 17 (Partnerships).” Mr. Sakurai introduced the SGI’s activities for the abolition of nuclear weapons and its promotion of sustainable development in collaboration with the UN and other civil society organizations.
