Research Project on President Daisaku Ikeda’s Peace Proposals Launched

Malaysia 2024

In August 2024, the International Institute for the Study of Islamic Thought and Civilisation of the International Islamic University Malaysia (ISTAC-IIUM) and Soka Gakkai Malaysia launched a joint project to research and explore ways to promote peacebuilding and dialogue among civilizations based on President Daisaku Ikeda’s peace proposals. The year-long project will examine the concrete proposals for revitalizing the United Nations, nuclear disarmament, sustainability, and human rights education put forward by President Ikeda in the 40 proposals he authored annually from 1983 to 2022. Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Berghout, dean of ISTAC-IIUM, who will lead the project, said that President Ikeda's ideas align with ISTAC's mission of building bridges between civilizations and promoting world peace.
