On July 29 and 30, the Toda Peace Institute and the Institute of Japanese Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences cohosted a workshop titled “Preserving the Long East Asian Peace.” The workshop was held in Beijing, China, and brought together over 30 scholars from China, Europe, Japan, Mongolia, South Korea and the US. The scholars discussed ways to avoid potential conflicts and the need for long-term efforts in regional dialogue, education and confidence-building. The Toda Peace Institute was founded by President Daisaku Ikeda in 1996.
