Soka Gakkai Delegation Visits China for Friendship Exchange

On May 26, a delegation led by Soka Gakkai President Minoru Harada arrived in China. The delegation, made up mostly of youth, is visiting China at the invitation of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and the China-Japan Friendship Association. The visit marks the 50th anniversary of President Daisaku Ikeda’s first visit to the country. On May 28, President Harada met with Zhu Yongxin, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse. Dr. Zhu Yongxin expressed his hope for continued grassroots exchange between China and Japan to strengthen friendship. The delegation also visited Peking University for an exchange with students. Executive Vice President of the China-Japan Friendship Association Cheng Yonghua delivered a keynote speech urging those present to foster Sino-Japanese friendship. Prior to the exchange, President Harada met with Hao Ping, secretary of the CPC Peking University Committee, and Fang Fang, vice president of Peking University. The delegates also visited the China Soong Ching Ling Science & Culture Centre for Young People where they did some Chinese traditional arts and crafts.
