On May 24, Soka Gakkai President Minoru Harada met with International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO) Executive Director Sheam Satkuru to sign a memorandum to develop a reforestation project in the Republic of Benin. The three-year project hopes to engage over 200 women in agroforestry on a 12-hectare area of land in Ouémé and Zou departments. The project aims to empower women through providing income opportunities to advance gender equality and will be carried out with support of the African Women’s Network for Community Management of Forests (REFACOF).
