On October 18, the exhibition “The Lotus Sutra―A Message of Peace and Harmonious Coexistence,” created by the Institute of Oriental Philosophy (IOP), an affiliate of the Soka Gakkai, opened at the SGI Asia Culture and Education Centre in Johor Bahru. The exhibition was organized by the Dunhuang Academy, the IOP and Soka Gakkai Malaysia. Some 650 guests, including David Wong, chairman of Yayasan Sultanah Fatimah, and Dzulkifli Bin Abdul Razak, professor emeritus and former rector of the International Islamic University Malaysia, attended the opening ceremony on October 20. The event also featured commemorative lectures on "The Lotus Sutra Exhibition and Islamic Culture" and "Buddhism and Women.” The exhibition runs until December 29.

From September 8 to 28, the Lotus Sutra exhibition was also shown at the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilisation at the International Islamic University Malaysia (ISTAC-IIUM) in Kuala Lumpur alongside the exhibition “Islam on Peace and Harmonious Coexistence.”
