Between January 28 and 31, Soka Gakkai representatives joined over 1,000 scholars and intellectuals from 98 countries at the 6th International Conference For World Balance in Havana, Cuba. The conference marked the 130th anniversary of the passing of José Martí, who was a poet, philosopher and symbol of Cuban liberation, and was attended by Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel. Yoshiyuki Nagaoka, executive director of the Soka Gakkai Office of International Affairs, was among people who spoke at the opening ceremony.

On January 29, during the breakout session, Mr. Nagaoka gave a presentation on human empowerment in the age of AI in which he drew on ideas in President Daisaku Ikeda’s peace proposals and 1996 lecture at the University of Havana.
